How do I get Library Card/ Membership?

All MU students get a MU Student ID, this will help you to process registration for library membership where you will be provided with library borrowing cards.

How to find print books and journals/periodicals on shelves?

Most printed books are on the Ground, First and second Floors of the Library Building Complex. Books are arranged by call numbers (Dewey Decimal Classification System) You will need the call number of the book (found by searching the http://library.mzumbe.ac.tz/iah to find it on the shelves. Print periodicals/journals are on the Old Wind of the Library Building and they are arranged alphabetically by title.

How Can I Access Special Reserve Books?

Reserve materials are physically located at the Special Reserve Section of the Library. You will need the call number of the book (found by searching the http://library.mzumbe.ac.tz/iah which will be presented to the Library Staff at the Special Reserve Section

How Can I Get Material not Available at the Library?

ILL (Interlibrary Loan) allows you to request a copy of material the Library doesn’t own. Articles and book chapters will be sent to you as PDFs and are usually available in 2-3 business days. Entire books will need to be borrowed and returned. This can take as little as 3 business days or a week or two depending on what we need to do to get the book.

How Can I Get Help on Available Library Services?

There are 5 main ways to get help: the Ask Librarian, WhatsApp –a- Librarian at: + 255 736-466-318, walking into the library and asking at the Exit Service Desk, calling us during our open hours at+ 255 736-466-318 , emailing us at: dlts@mzumbe.ac.tz, and making an appointment with a librarian

Can I check out journal/periodical volumes?

Most journals/serial titles/issues do not circulate. But you may check with the library staff for specifics.

What is the loan period for MU Library books?

For a student is 14 days and for permanent academic staff is 21 days.
